Every cria fathered by Excel is an exponential improvement over the quality of the dam! You must come by and see these incredible offspring. Now that his sire has passed, breedings to this magnificant male are very much in demand.
Here is your chance to add the genetics of the incredible 4Peruvian Legacy 6016 to your farm by breeding to his son, Excelsior. Excelsior is taking after Legacy with his great conformation, incredible fleece (bright, dense, soft) and proud presence. When Phyllis Decker (Legacy's original owner) came to our farm she marveled at Excelsior's close resemblance to his dad.
From the first time we saw him at 8 months of age we knew he was special. (Julio Sumar was at the same farm and picked him as his favorite out of the 26 alpacas in that group.) His fiber is fabulous with an average micron of 21.5 at age 9.
You must come and put your hands on this macho male and watch him move. He now has 37 crias on the ground. He has thrown the color of the dam 90% of the time. These young ones are everything that we were hoping for. (Out of his crias 13 are registered with ARI. 6 of these are females.)
Excelsior did not do his best in the ring according to several judges. He was always beligerent in the ring because of his alpha position. From the time he was 6 months old he displayed alpha disposition. My arm would ache from holding him back from the other males in the ring. On the farm his is great on the lead until he gets near other males. This did not deter us from breeding Excel. He is a champion from the ground up without the ribbons! Just view his offspring and see the awesome traits passed from each different dam he has bred.
Phyllis Decker of Alpacas of Maple Lane, the original owner of Legacy stated that Excelsior is an exact replica of Legacy. We agree.
